~ SCR sceptics in the US
Serious concerns about the introduction of SCR in the US in 2010 have become apparent from research reported by Oliver Dixon’s World Trucks Blog.

Over 80 percent of those questioned would not buy SCR engines in their trucks when it is introduced in North America with the imposition of the US EPA 2010 rules in two years time. The issue of filling an extra tank seems to be the problem they have identified with the new technology.
Cummins and International are going ahead with non SCR engines in 2010 but Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack and Volvo have all said they will use some form of SCR in some of their engines.

The survey also found scepticism about the new Paccar MX engine, expected to be introduced into the US market for the new 2010 emission rules.
