CVIAQ Skills Formation Strategy

CVIAQ

Following the securing of an agreement with the Queensland Department of Education, Training and Arts (DETA), CVIAQ has engaged the services of a Project Manager on a two year contract to oversee the Skills Formation Strategy in Heavy Vehicle Repair.

Michael Gilbert’s most recent experience as a senior project officer for the training identification and facilitation program, FarmBis, co-ordinated by the Queensland Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, will hold him in good stead to perform the duties required of his new role. The strategy relies significantly on Gilbert’s ability to engage the heavy vehicle repair industry and to build relationships with industry and, between industry, government and other stakeholders.

The main aims of the Skills Formation Strategy – Heavy Vehicle Repair are to:

  • Provide the heavy vehicle repair industry with a sustainable mechanism to address future workforce management issues through effective skilling solutions and,
  • Identify key skilling and workforce activities in which DETA can most effectively assist the industry’s growth and development.

Gilbert says he is looking forward to engaging with the heavy vehicle repair industry to identify workforce development issues and then facilitating strategies to address these issues.

“I am very keen to assist the industry secure its future workforce” commented Gilbert.

The procurement of a Project Manager to oversee the Skills Formation Strategy – Heavy Vehicle Repair is part of the ongoing commitment CVIAQ has in addressing the present skills shortages being experienced by its members.
