TMC 08

Early bird registrations are now open for the trucking industry’s 2008 Technical and Maintenance Conference (TMC08), which will run from Sunday 9 to Tuesday 11 November at the Moonee Valley Function Centre in Melbourne.

The yearly conference is run by the Australian Trucking Association and the Australian Road Transport Suppliers’ Association.

“TMC08 will put the spotlight on how workshop staff can reduce their company’s fuel consumption through better technology, maintenance and operations,” the Chairman of the Australian Trucking Association, Trevor Martyn, said.

“It will also cover other important workshop topics with a host of hands-on demonstrations by industry suppliers and technical experts. The conference will include presentations and follow-up practical sessions on servicing hybrid vehicles, electronics safety, best practice ventilation, and more.

“A strong focus of this year’s event will be on ‘Wednesday morning applicability’. Our goal will be to provide ideas that workshop and fleet managers can start to implement on Wednesday morning after they get home from the conference,” Martyn said.

For the first time, TMC08 will include an Apprentices’ Day on Monday 10 November, with discount registration for apprentices accompanied by a workshop manager.

“It’s a great opportunity for companies to reward their top apprentices and bring them up to speed with the latest workshop developments,” Martyn said.

“The discounts for early bird registrations will apply until 31 August 2008. Once again, we are offering a range of great value accommodation options with free transfers to and from the conference.”

Further details about the program and speakers will be announced in the coming weeks. TMC08 is sponsored by Castrol; the ATA’s official media partner for the event is Prime Creative, the publisher of Trailer Magazine and Prime Mover Magazine.
