Greg Martin steps into the role of Chairman following the appointment of Michael Deegan as Infrastructure Coordinator of Infrastructure Australia. He was appointed Deputy Chairman in April 2008 and became Acting Chairman in July.
Martin is well-placed to lead the Commission, with extensive experience in the areas of transport and infrastructure planning, research and operations. He currently holds positions as Professor of Planning and Transport Studies, Curtin University of Technology, and Executive Director, Planning and Transport Research Centre of Western Australia (PATREC).
Frank Muller is a Professorial Visiting Fellow at the University of New South Wales’s Institute of Environmental Studies and Climate Change Research Centre. His 33-year career covers environmental, energy and land use policy in Australia and the United States across government, universities, private consulting and community sectors. He is also non-executive director of the consumer organisation, Choice.
NTC Chief Executive Nick Dimopoulos said the appointments will assist the Commission’s work to further drive national transport reform and support the National Transport Policy work program. He acknowledged Deegan’s outstanding contribution to national transport reform and vision for a better transport system across all modes.
“Michael’s passion for the transport industry, his ability to engage with stakeholders and determination to get things done has set a high benchmark for the future and we wish him well,” he said.
