Cat Institute wins training award

The Caterpillar Institute (Vic-Tas), a joint venture between Victorian and Tasmanian Cat dealer, William Adams, and Caterpillar of Australia, has been named Victorian Small Training Provider of the Year. The Victorian Training Awards celebrate excellence across the Victorian vocational education and training system.

Caterpillar slides in US

The latest heavy duty engine sales figures demonstrate Caterpillar’s continuing fall in market share among US truck buyers. As Cat fell from 20% to 12% in the first six months of 2008, Cummins rose to 40% from 32% share of the top end of the heavy duty market.

Where are Cat going?

A series of announcements this week from Caterpillar cast doubt over the engine makers long term future as a supplier of engines to some truck makers, calling into question their position in Australia over the next five years.
